Christmas in June.

A couple gems have dropped in the last 48 hours. If these tapes are any indication, it’s gonna be a hot summer. Pause.

Even in Chicago, maing. Mikey and Chuck continue the fishing theme, following up last year’s Gone Fishin’ mixtape with their new offering entitled Tacklebox, brought to us this time around by the LA Leakers. Chuckie’s signature, stripped-down 808s are ever present, but the boys show some serious progression on the microphone. Enough, anyway, to “lure” me in. Pause.

The latest installment in Dram F. Kennedy’s (I can’t get enough of that a.k.a.) legendary Gangsta Grillz series comes courtesy of Pill, one of the many blossoming ATLiens maintaining a steady buzz across the industry. His last two tapes, The Prescription and The Refil were two of the best of oh-nine. He comes through again, adding his trademark twang to some classic and original production. Young’n is one to keep an eye on. Can we get an LP already? I couldn’t possibly overdose on this shit.

Yes, pause.
