Passin Me By.

I’ve had this one on rotation for a hot minute now but didn’t realize until just now that I failed to share it with you. Big K.R.I.T. is Def Jam’s latest signee and they have certainly made a good choice. A native of Meridian, Mississippi, a town of under 40,000 people, K.R.I.T. has been making his rounds on the mixtape circuit in preparation for his major label debut. He handles his own production masterfully (actually, it may be his forte) and is another shining example of the sound of the New South. New York young’ns need to get on their game. Front to back, this shit is of the highest quality. And it’s free.

Think Outkast meets Three 6 Mafia meets Khalifa (who is featured on the tape), with a heavy dash of the late Pimp C. Judging by the rap alias, which is an acronym for King Remembered in Time, dude is planning on being around for a while. For now, he is loudly announcing his arrival.

Hold your head, young’n. New York just hates because they aren’t producing up-and-comers at the same rate as the South. Even the best face the hate.
