Extensions.

As I continue to digest his Fantasy [pause], a couple of tracks of significance from Yeezy have been leaked by the good folks over at YourAudioFix. First up is a collaboration with T.I. and Kid Cudi, with production from No I.D., slated to appear on The Kang’s King Uncaged No Mercy when it drops December 7. The other, a self-produced cut likely created for the currently unscheduled Watch the Throne collaboration project with Hov, finds ‘Ye and his Big Brother trading verses over an up-tempo boom-bap and a well-placed hook from electro dame-of-the-moment La Roux. Mr. West’s roll continues. I’ll lend my thoughts on the LP in the near future.

Gods Mingle.

Though Diddy might not be on-board with the signing, things have started off in the right direction. Often cited by jaded c-section dwelers as the next hip-hop saviour, Jay Elec drops his first material since announcing a deal with Hov’s Roc Nation team this weekend. The first features a minute-long JFK sample, while the second, which dropped last night, finds the employer-employee relationship in full effect with a guest spot from Shawn Carter. While J.E. has a few things left to prove in terms of the saviour talk, there is no telling what dude can accomplish with Hov in his corner. Pardon the audio quality, and lookout for CDQ updates.

Cole Winter.

Hov showed a lot of faith in young Jermaine by making him the first official Roc Nation signee. While other have since joined Cole on the roster, no one quite holds the same expectation level as the Carolina emcee-slash-producer, who has already dropped a pair of memorable mixtapes including last year’s The Warm Up. Now, with lead single “Who Dat” gaining steady rotation in anticipation for December’s release of his debut LP, we get Friday Night Nights. Featuring selective guest spots and impressive self-production, this is truly a showcase of the impressive talents of a hip-hop torch bearer. Cole world, indeed.

Polar Bear Ice, Stay Dressed to Kill.

New Ghost is always an occasion, and this is no different. With The Apollo Kids slated to drop December 19, the Wally Champ decided it was time to unleash the first single. And I’m certainly no one to question the decision.

Even without due daps from critics and mainstream alike, Dennis Cole proves time and time again to be one of the most consistent, entertaining rappers of all-time. All it takes is a look at the catalog. Ghost seems primed to continue his roll this winter.

No More Pencils.

A couple of living legends have apparently been making trips to the studio, crafting an upcoming full-length collaboration project. While the self-proclaimed Teacha has transformed to little more than a preachy, pretentious miser over recent years, an LP with Preme seems to be a step in the right direction and, as has been proven before (see: Group Home, Jeru), is a shortcut to a classic record. With some help from Brand Nubian alum Grand Puba, we get a small preview of things to come. Not the first time we’ve heard this beat, but that doesn’t mean these two Golden Era representatives can’t freshen it up. So far, so good.

Welcome Back, Carter.

Look who then dun let out the cage. Restrictions state that Wanye needs to stay sober for the next 36 months. Perhaps that will be the hardest part. Hopefully Toonchi avoids following Clifford’s lead and keeps himself out of trouble.
